Customer Appreciation at Oakville Libraries

Oakville Public Library has lots of fun for you this Public Library Week, kicking off Sunday with Customer Appreciation Day.
All branches will be offering free Starbucks coffee, juice, cookies and apples along with some great giveaways to thank customers for their continued support throughout the year.
We will also have a free Panago Pizza coupon for the first 25 people to each branch.
Senior library staff and library board members will meet and greet you from 1-5 p. m. on Sunday, Oct. 18 (and Customer Appreciation Day at the Clearview Neighbourhood Branch only, will be Saturday, Oct. 17 from 1-5 p. m.
Take advantage of our $10 Fine Amnesty, too.
Ontario Public Library Week was established by the province in 1985 to promote public library services in Ontario, celebrating libraries across Canada.
Our celebration week will start with our Every Child Ready to Read First Concert with Chris McKhool on Monday, Oct. 19 from 10-11 a. m. in The Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts.
Hailed as a children’s musical star and Canada’s greatest eco-troubadour for young people, McKhool is one of Canada’s hottest children’s musicians.
He has been touring Canada with his children’s concerts for 10 years and has appeared on Mr. Dressup, Treehouse, TVO’s Crawlspace and CBC.
This free preschooler concert is already sold out as families across Oakville picked up their tickets over the last few weeks, ready to treat their little ones to lots of musical fun.
For those who have an interest in do it yourself (DIY) projects, The Oakville Performing Arts Centre will be the place to be Monday, Oct. 19.
Join us at 7 p. m. as HGTV’s Disaster DIY host Bryan Baeumler will share his passion for building and renovation and offers some important tips and handy tricks.
Baeumler spent his childhood taking things apart under the watchful eye of his father, who built airplane parts for a living and was meticulous with detail. This attention to detail had a profound effect on Baeumler and is reflected in his work. Hailing from Oakville, his passion for building came early.
Don’t miss your chance to hear more from the man himself. Tickets for this event are only $5 and can be purchased from any Oakville Public Library Branch, but they are going fast so hurry, it is sure to be a fantastic evening.
For our Oakville teens we round off Public Library Week by offering a Free Cartoon Workshop for Teens with Kevin Sylvester on Saturday, Oct. 24 . Illustrator, author and host of CBC Radio Sports, Sylvester is a cartoonist and well-known radio personality.
His latest book, Sports Hall of Weird, published by KidsCan Press, has been nominated for a Silver Birch Award by the Ontario Library Association.
Teens who register will get the opportunity to improve their illustrating skills and get some great new ideas from an experienced cartoonist.
The free workshop takes place at Central Branch Auditorium, from 1-4 p. m. Participants must register in advance by contacting Teen Services Librarian Elise C. Cole at 905-815-2042, ext. 5037 or ecole@oakville.ca .
If you are unable to get down to your local branch make sure you visit us virtually at www.opl.on.ca to celebrate Public Library Week and discover how many amazing services, programs and events we offer all year long.

We went! Fines, poof, gone. Cookies, juice boxes for girls, Starbucks coffee for me, and a couple of apples. Plus we got a free Panago pizza coupon. Totally worth it.
